SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Emil T. Liedberg of Waukegan on January 29, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Emil Liedberg was born on October 17, 1920 in Batavia; he married Dorothy Schmidt on May 18, 1946 at Holy Family Church; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Liedberg retired from Cyclone Fence in 1976, after 29 and a half years of service, when the plant closed; he was then employed with Amoco Tools, retiring in 1986; he was formerly a member of Holy Family Church and most recently a member of Queen of Peace Church; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Liedberg was discharged in 1946 from the United States Navy after serving six years as a chief during World War II; he was also a member of the Steel Workers Club; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Emil T. Liedberg will be deeply felt by many, especially his wife of 57 years, Dorothy; his two daughters, Carol Lopez and Nancy (Rick) Grabowski; his six grandchildren, Bryan (Sheila) Grabowski, Kristy Grabowski, Nikki (Scott) Hightower, Matthew Johnson, Tony Lopez, and Christine Lopez; his three great-grandchildren, Sarah and Joseph Grabowski, and Calvin Hightower; his four brothers, Howard, Andy, David, and Robert Liedberg; his two sisters, Louise Gremonprez and Anna West; and many nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jane Johnson in 1988; and his sister, Wilma Gordon; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Emil T. Liedberg along with all who knew and loved him and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Emil T. Liedberg as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
