SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 were saddened to learn of the death of Ronald L. Graffouliere
4 of Galesburg on November 27, 2003; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born September 22, 1911 in Galesburg, to
6 Louis F. and Nellie Mabel Bryant Graffouliere; he married
7 Elizabeth (Betty) A. Huckstep in Raytown, Missouri on December
8 14, 1946; she preceded him in death on April 28, 1985; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He was a 1929 graduate of Galesburg High School
10 and a 1933 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan College; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Mr. Graffouliere served four years during World
12 War II in the Air Force and Chemical Warfare Branch in the
13 United States and Asiatic Theatres with the rank of captain;
14 and
 
15     WHEREAS, He worked 36 years in the wholesale and retail
16 shoe business in the offices of Florsheim Shoe Company in
17 Chicago, and he later worked 3 years as a Sales Representative
18 for the Brown Shoe Company in Carlisle, Pennsylvania; he worked
19 for 3 years as administrator of the War Veterans Division for
20 the University of Illinois Galesburg Branch; he was a partner
21 for 23 years with Harold "Dutch" Rogers for Rogers Shoes in
22 downtown Galesburg, retiring in 1975; and
 
23     WHEREAS, He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church
24 in Galesburg where he served as an elder, a trustee, and
25 deacon; he was a member of the Masonic Lodges, including Vesper
26 Masonic Lodge 584 AF & AM of Galesburg, Scottish Rite
27 Consistory of Moline, and Mohammed Shrine of Peoria; and
 
28     WHEREAS, The passing of Ronald L. Graffouliere will be
29 deeply felt by many, especially his son, Stephen L.

1 Graffouliere; and two grandchildren; and
 
2     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and a
3 brother; therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
5 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
6 Ronald L. Graffouliere along with all who knew and loved him
7 and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends;
8 and be it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the family of Ronald L. Graffouliere as an
11 expression of our deepest sympathy.
