SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Denny Best of Winter Haven, Florida, on September 25, 2003; and

WHEREAS, Denny Best was born on May 29, 1950 in Springfield to John and Ann Best; he attended Lincoln Land Community College and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Best was a professional musician and played drums for several bands including Cicero Slim & the WW III Blues Band, Dr. Hector & the Groove Injectors, Midnight Creepers, Big Twist & the Mellow Fellows, Coal Kitchen, Cat St. Blues, Signets, Rock Bottom, Funky Blues Messiahs, T. Hart Trio, Raindear Army, Bird Dog Bobby, Nighthawk, Outlaw, and Taj Mahal; he recorded with Ernie Lancaster, Lazy Lester, Raful Neal, Kenny Neal, Lucky Peterson, Alex Taylor, Noble Watts, and Rufus Thomas; he was a former employee of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Denny Best has been deeply felt by many, especially his daughters, Shana and Chelsea; his brother and sister, Bob and Sue; his nieces, Kiersten and Kathryn Best; and his nephews, Steven and Scott Koehler and John Miller; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Denny Best and extend our sincerest condolences to his friends, family, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Denny Best as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
