 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate learned  with
 3    regret of the passing of Anthony "Tony" F. Vicari of Alton on
 4    Tuesday, October 21, 2003; and

 5        WHEREAS,  Anthony  F. Vicari was born on June 13, 1914 in
 6    Alton to the late Frank  and  Rosalie  (Nicosia)  Vicari;  he
 7    married  Mary V. Harshbarger Myers on May 4, 1974 in Godfrey;
 8    and

 9        WHEREAS, Mr. Vicari worked as a crane operator at Laclede
10    Steel for 43 years before retiring in 1976, and later  worked
11    at  Dave's  Movies  & More in Granite City, until early 2003;
12    and

13        WHEREAS, Mr. Vicari was a long time member and  usher  at
14    St.  Mary's  Catholic  Church  in  Alton;  he  was  active in
15    Democratic   Party   politics,   serving   as   a    Precinct
16    Committeeman,  and  as past treasurer of United Steel Workers
17    of America Local #3643; in addition, he was  a  Third  Degree
18    member  of  Knights of Columbus Alton Council #460, Fraternal
19    order of Eagles Alton #254,  past  Auxiliary  Deputy  of  the
20    Madison  County  Sheriff's  Department,  and  a member of the
21    Illinois Sheriff's Association; Mr. Vicari was an avid sports
22    fan, especially of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team; and

23        WHEREAS, The passing of Anthony F. Vicari has been deeply
24    felt by al who knew and loved  him,  especially  his  beloved
25    wife  of  29  years,  Mary  Vicari;  his sons and a daughter-
26    in-law, Frank and Peggy Vicari and Jack Vicari; his  stepsons
27    and  a  daughter-in-law,  Charles E. and Jay Myers and Tim W.
28    Myers; his son-in-law, Harry Rhoades; his brother-in-law  and
29    sister-in-law,   Robert   and   Melba  Harshbarger  his  many
30    grandchildren;  his  great-grandchildren;  his   nieces   and
31    nephews; and his other extended family and many dear friends;
32    he  was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosalee Ann Rhoades;

 1    a stepdaughter, Karen Small; 3  brothers,  Dominic,  Michael,
 2    and  Angelo Vicari; and 2 sisters, Sarah Ingrande and Theresa
 3    Bonafede; therefore, be it

 4        RESOLVED, BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL
 5    ASSEMBLY  OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
 6    all who knew him, the death of Anthony F.  Vicari  of  Alton;
 7    and be it further

 8        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 9    presented to the family of Anthony F. Vicari as an expression
10    of our sincerest condolences.
