 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois learned with regret of the death of Bernard "Barney"
 4    Loeb, the founder of Vernon Hills, on Friday August 29, 2003;
 5    and

 6        WHEREAS, Mr. Loeb was born on December 9, 1918 in Chicago
 7    and  had  lived  most  of  his adult life in the Libertyville
 8    area; he was a contractor and developer of several  areas  in
 9    Lake  County and was also the founder of Ironwood Industries;
10    and

11        WHEREAS, Mr. Loeb was a private pilot and had served with
12    distinction in the United States Army during World War II; he
13    was also a devoted and sustaining member of St. Joseph Church
14    in Libertyville; and

15        WHEREAS, The passing of Bernard Loeb has been deeply felt
16    by all who knew and loved  him,  especially  his  wife,  Mary
17    Louise;  his  children,  Barney  (Lynda) Loeb II, Dianne (the
18    late  Pate)  Elmquest,  Mark  Loeb,  Manny  Salabounis,  Mary
19    Salabounis, and John (Tammi) Salabounis;  his  grandchildren,
20    Barney  III,  Billy,  Ashley,  and Darcy Loeb, John and Stacy
21    Elmquest, and Ava Marie Salabounis; and  his  sisters,  Agnes
22    (Ralph)  Padgett  and Patricia Loeb; he was preceded in death
23    by his first  wife,  Dorothy,  and  his  brothers,  Paul  and
24    Francis; therefore, be it

25        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
26    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the  passing
27    of  Bernard  Loeb  and  extend  our  deepest  sympathy to his
28    family, friends, and community; and be it further

29        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
30    presented  to  the family of Bernard Loeb as an expression of
31    our sincerest condolences.
