1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Robert Lewis
4 Snook of Waukegan on Saturday, May 31, 2003; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Snook was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on
6 December 28, 1918 to Lewis and Martha Snook; he attended
7 Western Michigan University, where he met Millicent Larimer;
8 they were married in 1942; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Snook served his country in Navy
10 Intelligence during World War II; he received his law degree
11 from the University of Illinois, College of Law in 1950 and
12 joined the firm of Hall, Meyer & Carey in Lake County; he
13 became a partner in Hall, Meyer, VanDeusen, Holmberg, Snook
14 and May in 1961; and
15 WHEREAS, Mr. Snook was a past president and life member
16 of the Lake County Bar Association and a member of the
17 Chicago Bar Association as well as numerous other legal
18 organizations; he belonged to the Jefferson Inn of Court and
19 the Waukegan City Club; he was a shriner in the Masonic Lodge
20 and a member of the Elk's Club and First United Methodist
21 Church in Waukegan; he also served on the boards of Victory
22 Memorial Hospital and the College of Lake County; and
23 WHEREAS, Mr. Snook enjoyed spending time with his family;
24 he and his wife were members of the Glen Flora Country Club
25 and enjoyed sailing their boat, "The Counselor"; they were
26 longtime members of the Waukegan Yacht Club; Bob and his son,
27 Robert, who preceded him in death in 1991, often sailed
28 together and eventually formed their own law firm; and
29 WHEREAS, The passing of Robert Lewis Snook has been
30 deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Millicent; his
31 daughter, Rebecca (Bill) Mitchell; his grandchildren, William

1 and Gavin Mitchell and Chris Snook; his sister, Joanne (Bob)
2 Tazelaar; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Phyllis and
3 Robert Wegner; and his several nieces and nephews; therefore,
4 be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
7 of Robert Lewis Snook and extend our sincere condolences to
8 his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
9 it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Robert Lewis Snook as an
12 expression of our heartfelt sympathy during their time of
13 bereavement.
