 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were  saddened to learn of the death of R.C. Nelson
 4    on May 19, 2003; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mr.  Nelson  was  born  on  August  9,  1923  in
 6    Clarksdale,  Mississippi  to Australia and Fannie Mae (North)
 7    Nelson; he was the third of eight children; and

 8        WHEREAS, Mr. Nelson served  his  country  in  the  United
 9    States  Army from 1941-1945; he met and married Pearl King in
10    1946 and moved to East Saint Louis; and

11        WHEREAS, Mr. Nelson had been an employee of the  City  of
12    East  Saint  Louis  as  a Tire Specialist until he retired in
13    1985; he was a faithful member of the Centreville  Church  of
14    Christ; and

15        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Nelson's  passing  will  be deeply felt by
16    many,  especially  his  son,  Willie  C.  Nelson;  his  three
17    grandchildren, Karla, Michael, and  Christel;  his  siblings,
18    Lottie  B.  (Willie)  Williams,  Ernestine  Williams,  Thomas
19    (Beverly)  Moy, and James Moy; and a host of nieces, nephews,
20    cousins, other relatives and friends; and

21        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Nelson  was  preceded  in  death  by  both
22    parents; one sister; two  brothers;  and  one  granddaughter;
23    therefore, be it

24        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
25    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the  passing
26    of  R.C.  Nelson  along  with  all who knew and loved him and
27    extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and
28    be it further

29        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
30    presented  to  the  family of R.C. Nelson as an expression of
