 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were saddened to learn of the death of Sam Stewart,
 4    Sr. of Gillespie on June 11, 2003; and

 5        WHEREAS, Born on July 18, 1928 in Litchfield, Mr. Stewart
 6    was the son of the late Samuel Stewart, Sr. and Mary (Fulton)
 7    Stewart; he married Mildred (Morris) Stewart  on  August  19,
 8    1950 in Gillespie; and

 9        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Stewart was a veteran of the United States
10    Army Air Corps and United States Army; he served his  country
11    during the Korean Conflict; and

12        WHEREAS, Mr. Stewart was retired as an insulator from the
13    Shell  Oil  Co.,  and  was  a  member of the Oil Chemical and
14    Atomic Workers Union; and

15        WHEREAS, The passing of Sam Stewart, Sr. has been  deeply
16    felt by many, especially his wife, Mildred; his two sons, Sam
17    Stewart,  Jr.  (wife,  Suzanne)  and  Donald  Stewart  (wife,
18    Charlene);   his  grandchildren,  Kelly  Stewart  and  Jaclyn
19    Stewart; his brother, Bill Stewart; and his  sister,  Mildred
20    Desmond; and

21        WHEREAS,  He  was  preceded  in death by his parents; and
22    three sisters, Gloria Bocchiardi,  Izzy  Stewart,  and  Katie
23    Alpi; therefore, be it

24        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
25    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
26    Sam Stewart, Sr. along with all who knew and  loved  him  and
27    extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and
28    be it further

29        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
30    presented to the family of Sam Stewart, Sr. as an  expression
