 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were  saddened  to learn of the death of Lance Cpl.
 4    Nicholas Kleiboeker of Odin who was killed on  May  13,  2003
 5    while  serving  with  the  United States Marine Corps near Al
 6    Hillah, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom; and

 7        WHEREAS,  Lance  Cpl.  Kleiboeker  was  trapped   in   an
 8    ammunition  bunker  which  caught  fire  and exploded; he was
 9    serving as a combat  engineer  with  the  United  States  2nd
10    Marine  Division  assigned  to  the  1st Battalion of the 4th
11    Marines; and

12        WHEREAS, Fulfilling a long-held dream, he enlisted in the
13    Marines while  in  high  school  through  the  delayed  entry
14    program;  he attended boot camp in 2001 and was deployed from
15    Camp LeJuene, North Carolina, to Kuwait  on  Valentine's  Day
16    earlier  this  year; he was taking correspondence courses and
17    later wanted to attend officers school; and

18        WHEREAS, Lance  Cpl.  Kleiboeker  was  the  son  of  Gary
19    Kleiboeker  and  Gary  and Teresa Clark; he was a graduate of
20    Odin High School; he was athletic and loved oldies music;  he
21    had  a  warm  personality and affectionate regard for others;
22    and

23        WHEREAS, The passing of Lance  Cpl.  Nicholas  Kleiboeker
24    will  be  deeply  felt  by  all  who knew him, especially his
25    parents; his sisters, Jessica Kleiboeker, Hillary,  Brittany,
26    and Jennifer; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam
27    Bryant; therefore, be it

28        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
29    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn  the  tragic
30    death  of  Lance  Cpl.  Nicholas  Kleiboeker  and  extend our
31    sincere condolences to his family,  friends,  and  community;

 2        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 3    presented to the family of Lance Cpl. Nicholas Kleiboeker  as
 4    an expression of our deepest sympathy.
