 1        AN ACT in relation to vehicles.

 2        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section  5.  The  Illinois  Vehicle  Code  is  amended by
 5    changing Section 3-705 as follows:

 6        (625 ILCS 5/3-705) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-705)
 7        Sec. 3-705.  Suspending or revoking a certificate or  the
 8    special  plates  of  a  manufacturer,  engine  and  driveline
 9    component manufacturer, transporter, repossessor or dealer.
10        The  Secretary  of State is also authorized to suspend or
11    revoke a certificate  or  the  special  plates  issued  to  a
12    manufacturer,  engine  and  driveline component manufacturer,
13    transporter, repossessor or dealer upon determining that  any
14    such  person  is not lawfully entitled thereto or has made or
15    knowingly permitted any illegal use of  such  plates  or  has
16    committed  fraud in the registration of vehicles or failed to
17    give notices of  transfers  when  and  as  required  by  this
18    Chapter.

20        Section  99.   Effective  date.   This  Act  takes effect
21    January 1, 2004.
