SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

20 ILCS 1405/1405-35 new

Amends the Department of Insurance Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department of Insurance shall require, by rule, all health care plans to assess the linguistic needs of the enrollee population, excluding Medicaid enrollees, and to provide for translation and interpretation for medical services, as indicated. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning insurance.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Department of Insurance Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding Section 1405-35 as follows:

Sec. 1405-35. Translations and interpretations. The Department of Insurance shall require, by rule, all health care plans to assess the linguistic needs of the enrollee population, excluding Medicaid enrollees, and to provide for translation and interpretation for medical services, as indicated.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
