SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

20 ILCS 2310/2310-396.5 new

Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the Department of Public Health to develop a policy that the State of Illinois shall not provide access to donated organs harvested in Illinois to citizens or institutions in states that do not provide access to donated organs to Illinois citizens or institutions.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding Section 2310-396.5 as follows:

(20 ILCS 2310/2310-396.5 new)

Sec. 2310-396.5. Organ donation access. The Department shall develop a policy that the State of Illinois shall not provide access to donated organs harvested in the State to citizens or institutions in other states that do not provide access to donated organs to Illinois citizens or institutions.
