SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
625 ILCS 5/3-104.2 new

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that an applicant for a certificate of title for a specially constructed vehicle, other than a mobile home, must submit the vehicle to a safety inspection by the Department of Transportation. Provides that the application for a certificate of title under the new provision must be accompanied by a certificate of safety issued by the Department after the inspection. Provides that the applicant must pay an inspection fee of $100, to be deposited into the Secretary of State Police Services Fund. Provides that the Secretary shall adopt rules for implementing the new provision.

1     AN ACT concerning vehicles.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5 Section 3-104.2 as follows:
 
6     (625 ILCS 5/3-104.2 new)
7     Sec. 3-104.2. Application for certificate of title for a
8 specially constructed vehicle; inspection.
9     (a) The applicant for a certificate of title for a
10 specially constructed vehicle, other than a mobile home, must
11 submit the specially reconstructed vehicle for a safety
12 inspection under Section 13-101 of this Code.
13     (b) The application for a certificate of title for a
14 specially constructed vehicle, other than a mobile home, must
15 be accompanied by a certificate of safety furnished by the
16 Department of Transportation as provided in Section 13-109 of
17 this Code.
18     (c) The applicant for a certificate of title under this
19 Section must pay an inspection fee of $100, which shall be
20 deposited into the Secretary of State Police Services Fund and
21 shall be used for any purpose as deemed appropriate by the
22 Director of Police-Secretary of State in administering the
23 responsibilities of the Secretary of State Department of
24 Police.
25     (d) The Secretary shall adopt rules for implementing this
26 Section.
