HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Lake Villa Post #4308 Veterans of Foreign Wars was established in 1954 and will celebrate its 50th anniversary on May 29, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Tony Sciacero, who served as Post #4308's first president, is currently 92 years old and is still an active member at the Post; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ray Henry serves as the present commander of #4308 and Mr. Dennis Kehrer is the quartermaster; and

WHEREAS, For the past fifty years Lake Villa Post #4308 has built a legacy on service and community excellence and will continue to honor the dead by helping the living for years to come; and

WHEREAS, Worldwide, the VFW and its affiliates include 2.6 million members and approximately 9,000 posts; and

WHEREAS, The many accomplishments of the VFW include lobbying for a GI bill for the 20th century; donating more than $1 million each to the Vietnam, Korean, Women in the Service, and World War II memorials; fighting for compensation to veterans diagnosed with Gulf War Syndrome; and improving Veterans Affairs medical centers services for women veterans; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Lake Villa Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4308 on their 50th anniversary and thank them for fifty years of dedicated service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be delivered to the Lake Villa Post #4308 as a token of our admiration.
