HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives were saddened to learn of the tragic death of
4 Army Cpl. Forest Joseph Jostes of Albion on April 4, 2004 in
5 Baghdad, Iraq; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Forest Joseph Jostes was born on April 30, 1982,
7 in Warrensburg, Missouri, the son of Von and Diane Ibbotson;
8 and
 
9     WHEREAS, He joined the Army on his 17th birthday and became
10 a member of the 25th Army Combat Engineers out of
11 Lawrenceville; he later joined active duty with the 1st 82nd
12 Field Artillery as part of the 1st Calvary out of Ft. Hood,
13 Texas; he had been in Iraq for about three weeks; he was a
14 decorated soldier and received four Army Achievement Awards;
15 and
 
16     WHEREAS, He volunteered on April 4, 2004 for a quick
17 response team to rescue 20 soldiers who had been pinned down by
18 insurgents; he was a gunner in the rescue humvee, going down
19 narrow streets to reach the trapped soldiers, that was fired
20 upon by the insurgents; it was that attack that claimed his
21 life; his parents were notified of his death by Casualty
22 Assistance Officer, Jeremiah Aeschleman, who helped the family
23 through this tragedy with his kind support; and
 
24     WHEREAS, Cpl. Jostes was a fine Christian man and was a
25 member of Albion First Baptist Church; he carried the 91st
26 Psalm with him wherever he went; and
 
27     WHEREAS, The passing of Army Cpl. Forest Joseph Jostes will
28 be deeply felt by many, especially his parents, Von and Diane
29 Ibbotson; his sister, Michelle Lee Teeter and her husband,
30 Brian; his brothers, Benjamin L. Jostes and Evan R. Ibbotson;

1 his grandparents, John and Laura Ibbotson, Glen and Darlene
2 Kellison, and Norman and Shirley Costley; his nieces and
3 nephews; and his several aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore,
4 be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7 that together with his family, friends, educators, community,
8 and fellow members of the United States Armed Forces, we mourn
9 the death of Army Cpl. Forest Joseph Jostes, who will be
10 remembered as a patriotic, brave and courageous man, and offer
11 our deepest sympathy to all who knew and loved him; and be it
12 further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Army Cpl. Forest Joseph Jostes as an
15 expression of our deepest sympathy.
