 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of  Representatives  of
 3    the  State  of  Illinois are pleased to recognize citizens of
 4    the State who work for the betterment of Illinois; and

 5        WHEREAS, It has come to our  attention  that  Connie  and
 6    Jerry Heinrich of Wilmington were named Volunteer of the Year
 7    for  the  20-state Eastern Region of the U.S. Forest Service;
 8    the region includes 12 million acres  including  15  national
 9    forests and Midewin Nation Tallgrass Prairie; and

10        WHEREAS,  The Heinrichs have volunteered at Midewin since
11    it's inception;  they  were  part  of  an  early  open  space
12    planning  commission  for  the  Joliet  arsenal  and then the
13    Joliet Arsenal Prairie Parklands Alliance which  was  renamed
14    the  Midewin  Prairie  Alliance  and  includes  the volunteer
15    group, Friends of Midewin; and

16        WHEREAS, Mr. Heinrich serves as vice-president and  is  a
17    former  president  of  the Midewin Alliance and Mrs. Heinrich
18    has served six years as the group's treasurer; they also have
19    been involved as local officers of the Sierra  Club  for  the
20    past 15 years, Mrs. Heinrich as secretary and Mr. Heinrich as
21    the   Midewin   liaison;  Mr.  Heinrich  also  served  as  an
22    environmental advisor on Governor  George  Ryan's  transition
23    team; therefore, be it

24        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
25    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
26    we  commend  Connie  and  Jerry  Heinrich for their exemplary
27    volunteer service at the Midewin National  Tallgrass  Prairie
28    and  congratulate  them on being named Volunteer of the Year;
29    and be it further

30        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
31    presented  to Connie and Jerry Heinrich with our appreciation
