HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Clarence
4 "Bubba" Glenn on Thursday, April 22, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Glenn was born in Chicago, one of 6 children
6 of Clarence and Gertrude Glenn; he grew up in Bronzeville and
7 graduated from Wendell Phillips High School; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Mr. Glenn took a few courses at community colleges
9 and joined the Cook County sheriff's department; he was often
10 loaned out to work undercover for other agencies; in the course
11 of his work he infiltrated major gangs and the Mafia; he spent
12 3 decades as a private detective, often working undercover for
13 the FBI, Secret Service, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and
14 Firearms; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Mr. Glenn often helped the Chicago Police
16 Department find the killers of police officers; in the
17 mid-1990s, Mr. Glenn worked with the Secret Service tracking
18 down people who were cloning cell phone numbers; Cellular One
19 gave him a franchise to operate and he became interested,
20 running it for a time after the case was over; he was known for
21 his generosity and always had a smile on his face; and
 
22     WHEREAS, The passing of Clarence "Bubba" Glenn has been
23 deeply felt by many, especially his former wife, Florence
24 Glenn; his daughters, Clarissa Glenn and Yvonne Glenn-Brown;
25 his sons, Clarence and Bryan; his sisters, Diane, Joanne, and
26 Clarice Glenn; his brothers, Council and Franklin; and his 10
27 grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
28     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
29 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
30 mourn the passing of Clarence "Bubba" Glenn, a man who

1 exhibited integrity, ability, and tireless devotion to duty;
2 and be it further
 
3     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to the family of Clarence "Bubba" Glenn as an
5 expression of our deepest sympathy during their time of
6 bereavement.
