HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of Carmelo Mercado of Chicago on March 19, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Mercado was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico on August 10, 1966, and resided in the Westtown Community for many years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Mercado was a member of Pan de Vida (Bread of Life) Church, where he served as an Associate Pastor, ministering to the needs of the youth; he also served as Youth Mentoring Coordinator at the Miguel del Valle Youth Development Center; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Carmelo Mercado will be deeply felt by many, especially his parents, Luis Manuel and Rosa Mercado; his wife, Digna Maria Perez; his children, Jelisa, Joshua, and Marcus Mercado; his brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews; and his colleagues, co-workers, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of Carmelo Mercado along with all who knew and loved him and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Carmel Mercado as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
