 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that  Jeanie  Cooke
 3    is  being  honored as this year's Woman of Achievement by the
 4    American Association of University Women; and

 5        WHEREAS,  Ms.  Cooke's  enthusiasm  and  hard   work   in
 6    promoting  tourism  in  Vermillion  County  as  the executive
 7    director of the Danville Area Convention and Visitors  Bureau
 8    earned  her the honor; through her professional capacity, she
 9    has  made  a  significant  contribution   to   the   Danville
10    community; and

11        WHEREAS, The American Association of University Woman was
12    formed  in  1881  to  provide  women  graduates,  a  distinct
13    minority at that time, a means to get together with others to
14    continue  interests  and  educational pursuits; recipients of
15    the Woman of Achievement meet any or  all  of  the  following
16    criteria:  excellence  in  a  chosen  field;  recognition  by
17    community;  significant  contribution  to  the community; and
18    long-established reputation; Ms. Cooke was  chosen  for  this
19    honor  because  she  has achieved in her field and has made a
20    good contribution to the community; and

21        WHEREAS, Ms. Cooke has served as the  executive  director
22    for   ten   years;   her  work  consists  of  promoting  area
23    attractions and planning  major  events,  such  as  the  Farm
24    Progress  Show  that  will  take  place  in September and the
25    annual NJCAA basketball tournament which is an annual  event;
26    and

27        WHEREAS,  Ms.  Cooke  previously  served  on the board of
28    directors for the Convention and Visitors  Bureau  and  as  a
29    member of the Vermilion County Board; therefore, be it

30        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
31    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that

 1    we congratulate Jeanie Cooke on being named this year's Woman
 2    of  Achievement  by  the  American  Association of University
 3    Women and recognize the hard  work  and  dedication  such  an
 4    honor represents; and be it further

 5        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 6    presented to Jeanie  Cooke  with  our  best  wishes  for  her
 7    continued success and happiness and as a token of our respect
 8    and esteem.
