HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the tragic death of
4 Detective William "Wally" Rolniak, Jr., on February 4, 2004;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, William "Wally" Rolniak, Jr., was born March 7,
7 1964 in Chicago; he graduated from Thornton Township High
8 School on June 10, 1982; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He served the United States Air Force from
10 September 1983 through April 1987 before receiving honorable
11 discharge; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Detective Rolniak joined the Riverdale Police
13 Department in 1992 and held the rank of Detective for the last
14 6 years; during his career with the police department he
15 received several commendations; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Detective Rolniak was the first Riverdale police
17 officer killed in the line of duty; and
 
18     WHEREAS, The passing of Detective William "Wally" Rolniak,
19 Jr., will be deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Maureen
20 (nee Reilly); his daughters, Nicole and Denise; his parents,
21 William, Sr., and Karen Rolniak; and his three sisters, Debbie
22 (Vince) Rizzi, Michelle (Jim) Schaller, and Stacey (Dan)
23 Koontz; his brother-in-law, Dennis (Kathy) Reilly; his
24 father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ken and Carol Reilly; and many
25 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
26     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
27 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
28 mourn the tragic passing of Detective William "Wally" Rolniak,
29 Jr., along with all who knew and loved him and extend our

1 sincere condolences to his family, friends, and community; and
2 be it further
 
3     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to the family of Detective William "Wally" Rolniak,
5 Jr., as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
