| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois wish to congratulate Holy Cross Hospital of |
| 4 |
| Chicago on the occasion of its 75th anniversary; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, In September of 1928, ground was broken for the |
| 6 |
| first Holy Cross Hospital; this began an important legacy of |
| 7 |
| healing and service that continues today; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Holy Cross Hospital is a community hospital, |
| 9 |
| overlooking Marquette Park, just southwest of the center of |
| 10 |
| Chicago, and is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Casimir; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Beginning with Mother Maria Kaupas, the dynamic |
| 12 |
| young woman who began the Sisters of St. Casimir, a strong |
| 13 |
| commitment of caring and healing have been the cornerstone of |
| 14 |
| the Holy Cross Hospital mission; the contemporary mission of |
| 15 |
| healing and respect for all people continues the proud legacy |
| 16 |
| of the courageous religious women and talented physicians who |
| 17 |
| began Holy Cross Hospital; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Holy Cross Hospital's founding commitment to |
| 19 |
| bring healing to people continues today with renewed vitality; |
| 20 |
| the physicians and staff of Holy Cross work hard to understand |
| 21 |
| what is important to every patient and every patient's family; |
| 22 |
| and
|

| WHEREAS, Holy Cross Hospital services include inpatient |

| medical, surgical, obstetric, and pediatric care; intensive |

| care units for cardiac, respiratory, and medical care; 24 hour |

| emergency medicine; express care for minor emergencies; |
