HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Robert "Bobby" Harvey, Sr., on January 1, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Harvey was born on March 22, 1932, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to Abbott and Juliett Harvey; he was educated in the Chicago Public School system; and

WHEREAS, The Harvey family was one of the original families to become members of Christ Way Baptist Church, which was under the leadership of Reverend Consuella York; Mr. Harvey often assisted Reverend York in performing church-related functions; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Harvey worked for the City of Chicago, Streets and Sanitation Department, for over 20 years; for years, he contributed time and effort to his political party by performing a myriad of community-related services; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Harvey has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Ruth; his daughters, Patrice Thomas, Veljean Harvey, and Riretta Lewis-McGee; his son, Robert Jr.; his brothers, George (Jan), Frederick, and Gerald; his sisters, Shirley, Alberta, Opal, and Catherine; his nine grandchildren; his 20 great-grandchildren; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert "Bobby" Harvey, Sr., and we extend our sincerest condolences to his friends, family, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert "Bobby" Harvey, Sr., as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
