HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of Lillie Bell Jones on December 14, 2003; and

WHEREAS, Lillie Bell Jones was born on February 18, 1919 to the union of James and Carrie Clark; and

WHEREAS, She was raised and educated in Birmingham, Alabama, where she met and married Willie Jones, Jr.; she later relocated to Chicago where she became a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church; she later united with St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful and active member of the Mother's Board and several committees; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Lillie Bell Jones will be deeply felt by many, especially her children, Geraldine (Jack) Walls, Wilfred, James, Leonard, and Willie Jones; her grandchildren, Elayne, Karla, Michael (Kelly), Jacquelyn, Leonard, Rhonda, Camille, Valentino, and Marcella; her great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jayla, and Jaci; and a host of other relatives and friends; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by two children, Audrey and Bernard; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lillie Bell Jones along with all who knew and loved her and extend our sincere condolences to her family and friends; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lillie Bell Jones as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
