| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Give Kids A Smile is a national campaign, |
| 3 |
| sponsored by the American
Dental Association, to deliver free |
| 4 |
| oral health education, screening, and
treatment services to |
| 5 |
| children who would not otherwise receive dental care;
and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, On Give Kids A Smile Day, Friday, February 6, |
| 7 |
| 2004, hundreds of
thousands of children at more than 4,000 |
| 8 |
| sites across
the country will receive free education, |
| 9 |
| screening, and treatment services; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, |
| 11 |
| lay volunteers,
dental societies, and
dental school students |
| 12 |
| and faculties will be working together on that day to
help |
| 13 |
| children from low-income families who otherwise would not |
| 14 |
| receive dental
care; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, While helping children is incredibly important to |
| 16 |
| Give Kids A Smile
Day, it is equally important to note the |
| 17 |
| extent of untreated dental disease
among too many of the |
| 18 |
| nation's children and foster meaningful progress toward
|
| 19 |
| long-term solutions to dental access problems; therefore, be it
|
| 20 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 21 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 22 |
| recognize the importance of dental treatment to low-income |
| 23 |
| children and support the efforts of the American Dental |
| 24 |
| Association's Give Kids A Smile Campaign; and be it further
|
| 25 |
| RESOLVED, That we name Friday, February 6, 2004 as Give |
| 26 |
| Kids A Smile Day in
the State of Illinois; and be it further
|
| 27 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 28 |
| presented to the
American Dental Association with our best |
| 29 |
| wishes for the success of the Give
Kids A Smile Day in 2004.
