 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  were saddened to learn of the death of Julia
 4    Demery Harris on October 26, 2003; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mrs. Harris was  born  in  Atlanta,  Georgia  on
 6    February  8,  1923,  the  daughter  of Julia Weems Demery and
 7    Virgil Demery; and

 8        WHEREAS, Mrs. Harris completed her education,  and  began
 9    working  for  the  United  States  Postal Service in Chicago;
10    while employed there, she  made  the  acquaintance  of  Henry
11    Harris;  they  were married in 1957, and the couple enjoyed a
12    long and happy marriage; and

13        WHEREAS, Mrs. Harris served as a surrogate mother to  her
14    many  nieces  and  nephews;  she  had a flair for fashion and
15    decorating, which made  her  an  ideal  shopping  and  dinner
16    companion; and

17        WHEREAS,   Mrs.   Harris  was  a  talented  gardener  and
18    seamstress; she created much of her own clothing; she was  an
19    active member of St. Mark's Methodist Church; and

20        WHEREAS,  Her  passing  will  be  deeply  felt  by  many,
21    especially  her  husband,  Henry; her sister-in-law, Elective
22    Phillips; and many nieces, nephews, and  in-laws;  therefore,
23    be it

24        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
25    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
26    we  mourn the death of Julia Demery Harris along with all who
27    knew and loved her and extend our sincere condolences to  her
28    family and friends; and be it further

29        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
30    presented  to  the  family  of  Julia  Demery  Harris  as  an

 1    expression of our deepest sympathy.
