 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of  Representatives  of
 3    the  State  of  Illinois  are  pleased  to  congratulate Jack
 4    Kiesgen on the  occasion  of  his  retirement  as  the  Grant
 5    Township Highway Commissioner after 41 years of service; and

 6        WHEREAS,   Mr.   Kiesgen   has   served  as  the  Highway
 7    Commissioner for 24 years and has been a lifelong resident of
 8    Grant Township; under his leadership, the Highway  Department
 9    has  striven  to meet the growing needs of the community with
10    the maintenance of streets and roads; the Highway  Department
11    is actively working on the construction and maintenance of 57
12    miles of township roads; and

13        WHEREAS,   Mr.   Kiesgen  is  known  to  never  waste  an
14    opportunity  to  inform  employees  of  their  value  to  the
15    department;  his  staff  is  responsible  for  the  following
16    duties: winter snow and ice control; removal of the  winter's
17    leftover sand; spring road repairs due to winter; resurfacing
18    and  rebuilding  roads,  curbs,  and gutters; maintenance and
19    replacement of drainage and storm sewers as well as  culverts
20    to  assure proper drainage and prevent right-of-way flooding;
21    tree trimming and removal; roadside  mowing;  roadside  trash
22    pick-up;  the  care  of  approximately  500 street lights and
23    stringent  maintenance  of  traffic  signs;  brush   pick-up;
24    assistance in many ways for families involved in flooding and
25    storms  with  sand  bagging,  pumps, and debris clean-up; and
26    Adopt-A-Highway programs; and

27        WHEREAS, During Mr.  Kiesgen's  tenure,  there  has  been
28    excellent     intergovernmental    cooperation    with    the
29    municipalities in and around the township boundaries, as well
30    as with State and  local  Department  of  Transportation  and
31    State and local representatives; and

32        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Kiesgen  has served his area in many ways,

 1    including: as a Fox Lake Volunteer Fire Department,  retired;
 2    as  a  Republican  Precinct  Committeeman,  for  which  he is
 3    beginning his ninth term;  as  a  past  chair  of  the  Grant
 4    Township  Republican  Precinct Committeemen for 6 years; as a
 5    member of the American Legion Post Number 703 for  36  years;
 6    as  a  charter member of the Fox Lake Lions Club; as a member
 7    of the Township Officials of Illinois; as  a  member  of  the
 8    Lake   County  Township  Officials  Association;  as  a  past
 9    president of the Lake County Highway  Commission  Association
10    for  10  years; as a member of the National Athletic Club for
11    23 years and a board member for 4 years; as a member  of  the
12    Fox  Lake  Moose  Club;  as  a  member of the Ducks Unlimited
13    Committee for 9 years; as  an  honorary  member  of  Korpan's
14    Landing  Yacht  Club;  as  a  Fox  Lake Village Trustee for 7
15    years; as Chairman of Streets, Bridges, and Sidewalks for Fox
16    Lake Village; as an active member  of  the  Fox  Lake  Police
17    Pension Board for 22 years; and as an active participant with
18    township subdivision associations; and

19        WHEREAS, Mr. Kiesgen is known for his motto "You drive on
20    my record everyday"; therefore, be it

21        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
22    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
23    we   congratulate   Jack  Kiesgen  on  the  occasion  of  his
24    retirement as Highway Commissioner for Grant  Township  after
25    41 years of service with the department; and be it further

26        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
27    presented to Mr. Kiesgen as an expression of our respect  and
28    esteem and with many wishes for a relaxing retirement.
