 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of  Representatives  of
 3    the  State  of Illinois wish to congratulate the congregation
 4    of St. George  Serbian  Orthodox  Church  of  Joliet  on  the
 5    occasion of its 75th Anniversary on Sunday, November 2, 2003;
 6    and

 7        WHEREAS,   St.   George   Serbian   Orthodox  Church  was
 8    established in 1928 by Serbian immigrants  who  came  to  the
 9    United  States  at  the  turn of the twentieth century; three
10    generations of the  descendents  of  these  founding  members
11    continue to cherish the heritage left with them; and

12        WHEREAS,  St.  George  Serbian  Orthodox  Church  has had
13    substantial growth through the years;  the  church  has  been
14    providing  services  for  the community for over 25 years; it
15    expanded in the 1970s and 1980s, which  included  building  a
16    new facility as well as a social center; and

17        WHEREAS,  The  presence  of  St.  George Serbian Orthodox
18    Church in the  City  of  Joliet  for  75  years  has  been  a
19    contributing  factor  to  many  of the accomplishments of the
20    City; therefore, be it

21        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
22    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
23    we offer our  congratulations  to  the  congregation  of  St.
24    George  Serbian  Orthodox  Church on the occasion of its 75th
25    anniversary; and be it further

26        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
27    presented  to  St.  George  Serbian  Orthodox  Church  as  an
28    expression  of  our  esteem  and  with many wishes for future
29    success.
