 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  wish to recognize Joseph Florest of Niles on
 4    his retirement after more than 36 years of  service  for  the
 5    Village of Niles Fire Department; and

 6        WHEREAS,  Lt.  Florest was born on November 11, 1941; his
 7    original appointment to the fire department was July 30, 1966
 8    and he was appointed Fire Lieutenant in December of 1985;  in
 9    addition,  he  served as a Company Commander and was also the
10    department's  Air  Officer,  whose  responsibility  was   the
11    maintenance of self-contained breathing equipment and the air
12    compressor  to  insure  pure  breathing air for the safety of
13    firefighter/paramedic personnel; he had held this  assignment
14    for more than 20 years; and

15        WHEREAS,   During   his   career,   he   received   three
16    commendations  for  outstanding  duty  and  one  Company Unit
17    Citation for actions taken at the Albion Avenue  fire;  while
18    serving  on the ambulance he was injured four times assisting
19    patients; he was also injured ten times in his career  during
20    firefighting operations; and

21        WHEREAS,  Lt. Florest has been an asset to the department
22    from the day his  fire  service  career  started;  he  is  an
23    exceptional  firefighter  and is always ready to go the extra
24    mile when things became rough, exhibiting courage  and  skill
25    to get the job done; therefore, be it

26        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
27    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
28    we  congratulate  Lieutenant Joseph Florest on his retirement
29    after many years of dedicated service to his  career  and  to
30    the citizens of the Village of Niles; we wish him good health
31    and  happiness  in  all  of  his  future endeavors; and be it
32    further

 1        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 2    presented  to  Lieutenant  Joseph Florest as an expression of
 3    our respect and esteem.
