 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The tradition of charity  has  been  a  constant
 3    throughout the Elks' 100 years in Mt. Vernon; and

 4        WHEREAS,  The Elks, a national fraternity, is involved in
 5    a variety of charitable work involving children and veterans;
 6    and

 7        WHEREAS,  Members   also   uphold   their   long-standing
 8    tradition  of  patriotism and spirituality; through national,
 9    state and local  efforts,  the  Elks  help  college  students
10    afford   an  education  and  help  children  with  orthopedic
11    problems get the care and financial support they need; and

12        WHEREAS, The Elks are most involved in assisting crippled
13    children  across  the  State;  the  Illinois  Elks   Crippled
14    Children  Corp. sponsors four clinics annually in Mt. Vernon;
15    and

16        WHEREAS, Whether it's providing bingo games at the Marion
17    and Anna Veterans Affairs  hospitals,  sponsoring  an  Easter
18    bunny  program  at  nursing homes or organizing blood drives,
19    the Elks seem to have  their  hands  all  over  charities  in
20    Southern Illinois; therefore, be it

21        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
22    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
23    we  congratulate  and  thank  Elks Lodge 819 for 100 years of
24    service and commitment to the Mt. Vernon community; and be it
25    further

26        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
27    presented to Elks Lodge 819's exalted ruler, Robert Morrison,
28    as an expression of our respect and esteem.
