 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of  Representatives  of
 3    the State of Illinois wish to congratulate Mrs. Marie Ruff on
 4    the  occasion  of her retirement as Vice President of Patient
 5    Care Services of Little Company of Mary Hospital; and

 6        WHEREAS, Mrs. Ruff has been  with  the  Hospital  for  30
 7    years  and  a  registered  nurse  for  47  years;  since  her
 8    graduation  from  Little Company of Mary School of Nursing in
 9    1956, she has worked as a Staff Nurse, Head  Nurse,  Director
10    of  Maternal  Child  Services, Director of Surgical Services,
11    and for the past 16 years as Vice President of  Patient  Care
12    Services; and

13        WHEREAS, As a nurse, Mrs. Ruff has demonstrated practice,
14    courage, and compassion throughout her entire career; she has
15    served  as  a  role  model,  not only to nurses, but to every
16    person that she has come in contact with; and

17        WHEREAS, Mrs. Ruff has worked in many clinical  areas  in
18    nursing   including,   but   not   limited   to,  obstetrics,
19    pediatrics, surgery, medical/surgical, home care/hospice, and
20    ambulatory settings;  she  is  known  for  her  attention  to
21    patient needs; and

22        WHEREAS,  Mrs.  Ruff  has been successful in her position
23    because  she  has  had  the  courage  to  stand  up  for  her
24    convictions in relation to  anything  that  is  in  the  best
25    interest  of  patients;  in  her  position, she has worked to
26    improve staffing ratios and has had an open door policy  with
27    her staff; and

28        WHEREAS,   Mrs.   Ruff's   entire   life   may   best  be
29    characterized with the word "compassion"; when she hears of a
30    person in need, she tries to help;  she  has  been  extremely
31    compassionate   in  cases  of  impaired  employees  including

 1    contacting the employee personally to make sure all was going
 2    well; she volunteers at Catholic Charity health fairs and the
 3    Chicago Board of Health Clinics, where  she  administers  flu
 4    pneumonia shots; therefore, be it

 5        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 6    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
 7    we  congratulate  Mrs.  Marie  Ruff  on  the  occasion of her
 8    retirement from Little  Company  of  Mary  Hospital,  and  we
 9    extend  our thanks to her for her extensive care of patients,
10    staff, and community; and be it further

11        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
12    presented  to  Marie Ruff as an expression of the respect and
13    admiration she  has  earned  from  us,  her  staff,  and  her
14    colleagues  by  serving  as  a  role  model, mentor, teacher,
15    friend, and supporter.
