 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The Indian Nurses Association of Illinois  is  a
 3    non-profit  organization that was formed to identify and meet
 4    the needs of 3,000 or  more  nursing  professionals  who  are
 5    Indian   Americans,  the  largest  Asian  American  group  in
 6    Illinois; and

 7        WHEREAS, Many of the Indian nurses in Illinois came  here
 8    as   a   result   of  the  post-1965  liberalization  of  the
 9    immigration laws and many more continue  to  migrate  to  the
10    United  States  to  help  fill  the shortage of nurses in the
11    health care industry; and

12        WHEREAS, On Saturday, June 7,  2003,  the  Indian  Nurses
13    Association  of  Illinois  is hosting its inaugural dinner at
14    Niles West High School Auditorium in Skokie; this event  will
15    honor the many Indian American Nurses who have for many years
16    contributed  to  improving health care in America; therefore,
17    be it

18        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
19    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20    we commend the Indian Nurses Association of Illinois for  its
21    work  on  behalf  of  the  many Indian American nurses in the
22    State of Illinois; and be it further

23        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
24    presented  to the Indian Nurses Association of Illinois as an
25    expression of our profound respect and esteem, and  with  our
26    many  thanks for the willingness of each Indian nurse to work
27    for the health care of the citizens of the State of Illinois.
