 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of  Representatives  of
 3    the  State of Illinois wish to congratulate the Optimist Club
 4    of St. David on the occasion  of  its  50th  Anniversary  and
 5    Homecoming; and

 6        WHEREAS,  The  Optimist  Club  of St. David is affiliated
 7    with  Optimist  International,  a   non-profit   organization
 8    sponsoring  activities for youth throughout the United States
 9    and Canada; and

10        WHEREAS, The Optimist  Club  of  St.  David  is  a  proud
11    sponsor of sports programs, holiday events, and a scholarship
12    for  the  youth  of  St. David; the Optimist Club has reached
13    many generations of children in St. David, and has  continued
14    its  legacy  of  service  through  children  who  have become
15    parents that choose  to  volunteer  with  the  Club  and  its
16    programs; and

17        WHEREAS, The 50th Anniversary of the Optimist Club of St.
18    David  will  be  celebrated  at the group's annual Homecoming
19    from May 29 through May 31, 2003; the  event  consists  of  a
20    carnival, food, live music, a beer tent, and a parade for the
21    children and is entitled "World's Fair"; therefore, be it

22        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
23    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
24    we  extend our heartiest congratulations to the Optimist Club
25    of St. David on the occasion  of  its  50th  Anniversary  and
26    Homecoming,  and  we  thank  the  Club  for its continued and
27    consistent support of young people in the State of  Illinois;
28    and be it further

29        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
30    presented to the Optimist Club of St. David as an  expression
31    of our deep respect and esteem.
