 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  are  honored  to recognize milestones in the
 4    lives of the citizens of the State of Illinois; and

 5        WHEREAS, Stanley J. Szpytek, Jr.  has  retired  from  his
 6    position  as  Deputy  Chief  with  the  Palos Fire Protection
 7    District; and

 8        WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Szpytek began his service with  the
 9    Palos  Fire  Protection  District  as  a Cadet Firefighter in
10    1977; and

11        WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Szpytek was among the  first  group
12    of  full-time firefighter-paramedics to be hired by the Palos
13    Fire Protection District in 1983; this group was made  up  of
14    only six men; and

15        WHEREAS,  In  1984,  Deputy Chief Szpytek was promoted to
16    the rank of Lieutenant and was appointed  to  the  office  of
17    Fire  Marshal for the Palos Fire Protection District in 1987;
18    and

19        WHEREAS, He was promoted to the rank of Captain  in  1988
20    and  in  1991 was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief, where
21    he served until his retirement in 2003; and

22        WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Szpytek was instrumental  in  Palos
23    Fire  Protection  District's  fire  prevention  and education
24    programs; and

25        WHEREAS, On Friday, May 23, 2003,  the  family,  friends,
26    and  many  colleagues  of  Deputy Chief Szpytek will help him
27    celebrate 20 years of dedicated and committed service to  the
28    Palos  Fire  Protection District at a retirement party in his
29    honor; therefore, be it

30        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE

 1    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 2    we congratulate Stanley J. Szpytek, Jr. on his retirement  as
 3    Deputy  Chief  of  the  Palos Fire Protection District and we
 4    wish him well in all of  his  future  endeavors;  and  be  it
 5    further

 6        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 7    presented to Deputy Chief Szpytek as  an  expression  of  our
 8    respect and esteem.
