 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives congratulate Richard "Ike" Boyd as he retires
 4    after  51 years of service with the Lovington Fire Protection
 5    District on June 21, 2003; and

 6        WHEREAS, Mr. Boyd has served as Chief  of  the  Lovington
 7    Fire  Department  for  over 24 years and as a trustee for the
 8    Lovington Fire Protection District for over 21 years; and

 9        WHEREAS, Mr. Boyd shared  his  expertise  to  secure  and
10    maintain  essential  emergency  equipment  and  supported the
11    building  of  the  current  fire  station  and  addition;  he
12    designed the Fire Department's 1967 pumper, which is still in
13    service today; and

14        WHEREAS, Mr. Boyd has organized training sessions for all
15    firefighters, and he has served as one of the organizers  and
16    first  board  members  of  the  Lovington Community Ambulance
17    Service; in addition, he has supported the formation  of  the
18    Okaw  Valley  Fire Protection Association, which has promoted
19    vital training and mutual aide services for eleven area  fire
20    protections   district,   the   Moultrie   County   Sheriff's
21    Department,   and  the  Moultrie  County  Emergency  Services
22    Agency; and

23        WHEREAS, Mr. Boyd genuinely cares about the people of his
24    community; he has a  passion  to  help  others  in  need;  he
25    represents   the   very   best   of  volunteer  firefighters:
26    courageous, determined, and responsible; therefore, be it

27        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
28    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29    we congratulate Mr. Richard "Ike" Boyd as he retires after 51
30    years of service with the Lovington Fire Protection  District
31    and  thank  him  for  his  dedication  to  the  community  of

 2        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 3    presented to Richard "Ike"  Boyd  as  an  expression  of  our
 4    respect and esteem.
