 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, Education is one of the most  noble  pursuits  a
 3    person  can  undertake  and  those  who do deserve our utmost
 4    respect and admiration; and

 5        WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that  Allen  Schau,
 6    Superintendent  of  Ridgewood  High  School  District  234 in
 7    Norridge, is retiring following the  2002-2003  school  year;
 8    and

 9        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Schau  was  born  in Michigan and attended
10    elementary and high school in Galien, Michigan;  he  received
11    his  master's  degree  from  Western  Michigan University and
12    briefly played semi-pro football in Grand  Rapids,  Michigan;
13    and

14        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Schau  worked  as  a teacher and coach for
15    several years; his first administrative job was as  Assistant
16    Principal  at  Muskegon  Reeths-Puffer  High  School; he then
17    served as Principal  at  Kent  City  High  School  and  Niles
18    Community High School consecutively; and

19        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Schau's  first Superintendent position was
20    with the Buchanan Community Schools from 1987 until 1993;  he
21    retired from the Michigan educational system in 1993 and came
22    to Illinois where he has been the Superintendent of Ridgewood
23    High  School District 234 in Norridge for the past ten years;
24    and

25        WHEREAS, Mr. Schau has served  as  president  of  several
26    educational  and  civic organizations, including the Suburban
27    Prairie Conference Superintendents Organization,  the  Leyden
28    Area  Superintendents Organization, the West Cook Division of
29    the Illinois Association of School  Administrators,  and  the
30    Rotary Club of Norridge/Harwood Heights; and

31        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Schau  is  married  to  Pam  and  has five

 1    children; therefore, be it

 2        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
 3    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
 4    we congratulate Mr.  Allen  Schau  on  the  occasion  of  his
 5    retirement  as  Superintendent  of  the Ridgewood High School
 6    District 234 after 10 years of  service  and  many  years  in
 7    education; and be it further

 8        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 9    presented to Mr. Schau as an expression of  our  respect  and
10    esteem  and  with  best  wishes  for  a peaceful and relaxing
11    retirement.
