 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that  Jim  Luecking
 3    of  Champaign  is  retiring  from  his  position  as  City of
 4    Champaign Chief of Police after 30 years of service with  the
 5    department and two years as chief; and

 6        WHEREAS,  Chief Luecking graduated from the University of
 7    Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1973; and

 8        WHEREAS, Chief  Luecking  has  made  community  policing,
 9    traffic enforcement, and liquor enforcement priorities during
10    his  tenure  of  leading  the  force;  both the violent crime
11    citywide and on campus, as well as  the  accident  rate  have
12    been reduced during his term as chief; and

13        WHEREAS, Chief Luecking has aggressively worked on racial
14    communication   and   understanding   by   participating   in
15    community-wide study circles on interracial relations; and

16        WHEREAS,  Chief  Luecking  has  earned  the esteem of the
17    entire community he serves and the respect of his colleagues;
18    therefore, be it

19        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
20    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21    we congratulate Jim Luecking on his retirement as the City of
22    Champaign Police Chief and wish him well in the  future;  and
23    be it further

24        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
25    presented to Chief Jim Luecking as a token of our respect and
26    esteem.
