 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  wish  to congratulate Lorene Ramsey upon her
 4    retirement as coach of the Illinois Central  College  Women's
 5    basketball team; and

 6        WHEREAS,  The  team won the school's fifth NJCAA Division
 7    II national title; and

 8        WHEREAS, Coach Ramsey has the most wins  of  any  women's
 9    basketball  coach at a collegiate level, with a career record
10    of 887 wins and 197 losses in 33 seasons; and

11        WHEREAS, This was Coach Ramsey's seventh national  title,
12    including two in NJCAA Division I softball; and

13        WHEREAS,  In  June,  2000  Coach  Ramsey  was part of the
14    second class inducted into the  Women's  Basketball  Hall  of
15    Fame  in  Knoxville, Tennessee; Coach Ramsey has won National
16    Coach of the Year five times; has coached 22  All  Americans,
17    and a total of 2,244 games at ICC; and

18        WHEREAS,  During  their  season,  the  Cougars  displayed
19    outstanding  sportsmanship  and  represented their school and
20    their community with distinction; therefore, be it

21        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
22    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
23    we congratulate Coach Lorene Ramsey and  extend  to  her  our
24    sincere  wishes  for  continued  success in all of her future
25    endeavors; and be it further

26        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
27    presented  to  Coach  Lorene  Ramsey  as an expression of our
28    respect and esteem.
