 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of  Representatives  of
 3    the  State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of
 4    Mary Lee Powers on April 5, 2003; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mary Lee Powers was born on  July  2,  1922,  in
 6    Chicago,  Illinois,  to  the  union  of Richard G. Parker and
 7    Viola Weekly; and

 8        WHEREAS, Mrs. Powers met and  married  Herman  Powers,  a
 9    union  that  lasted  61  years;  they  devoted their lives in
10    raising Theza, Herman Jr., William David, and Jerry; and

11        WHEREAS, Mrs. Powers dedicated her life  to  Jehovah  God
12    and  symbolized her dedication through water baptism on April
13    3, 1952; she was a faithful Kingdom Preacher, aiding many  to
14    embrace the truth; and

15        WHEREAS,  Mary  Lee Powers leaves to cherish her memories
16    her loving husband,  Herman;  her  children,  Theza  (Philip)
17    Powell,  Herman  Jr.  (Peggy) Powers, William David (Dorothy)
18    Powers, and Jerry (Rhonda) Powers; her mother-in-law,  Carrie
19    Powers;  her  niece,  Jill (Cassius) Trotter; her nephew, Dr.
20    Frank Parker, Jr. (Sonya); and her many grandchildren,  great
21    grandchildren,  other  relatives  and friends, especially her
22    dearest friend of many years, Helen Stevens; therefore, be it

23        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
24    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25    we mourn the passing of  Mary  Lee  Powers  and  express  our
26    sincere  and  deepest sympathy to her family and friends; and
27    be it further

28        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
29    presented  to  the family of Mary Lee Powers as an expression
30    of our condolenced during their time of bereavement.
