 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The State of Israel has just completed  a  fair,
 3    free  and  open  democratic  election,  one that featured the
 4    participation of Jew, Christian and Muslim alike; and

 5        WHEREAS, Israel is the only full democracy in the  Middle
 6    East; and

 7        WHEREAS,  As  is  the  case with true democracies, Israel
 8    gives voice and power to its people, and continues to  do  so
 9    as  a  matter of course even as the terrorism of the last two
10    years has killed over 700 of its citizens, young and old, men
11    and women, and soldier and civilian alike; and

12        WHEREAS, The People of Israel continue to seek  and  work
13    for peace; therefore, be it

14        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
15    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
16    we  salute  and  congratulate  the  State  of  Israel, one of
17    America's most reliable and valuable allies, on the  occasion
18    of  its  most recent democratically-held elections; and be it
19    further

20        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
21    presented  to the Consul General for the Midwest of the State
22    of Israel.
