 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The Lincoln Park Lagooners is one  of  Chicago's
 3    oldest,  continually operating Lesbigay social organizations,
 4    with a membership of nearly 300; and

 5        WHEREAS, It  has  been  the  goal  of  the  Lincoln  Park
 6    Lagooners to enrich the lives of Chicago's Lesbigay community
 7    through  social events and charitable contributions since its
 8    creation in 1976; and

 9        WHEREAS, The Lincoln Park Lagooners was formed by a group
10    of volleyball players who met at the Lincoln Park lagoon  and
11    have   committed   to  social  interaction,  activities,  and
12    charitable fundraising  for  a  variety  of  causes  and  has
13    continued for over 25 years; and

14        WHEREAS,  Members of the Lincoln Park Lagooners have been
15    a surrogate  family,  a  support  group  to  many,  and  have
16    historically been important to the Gay and Lesbian community;
17    and

18        WHEREAS,   The   Lincoln  Park  Lagooners  have  provided
19    fundraising efforts and thousands of dollars  of  support  to
20    many  organizations,  such as the Howard Brown Health Center,
21    Test Positive Aware Network, Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual Veterans of
22    America, Stonewall Foundation, Open  Hand  Chicago,  and  the
23    AIDS Foundation of Chicago; therefore, be it

24        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
25    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
26    we  commend  the  members  of  the Lincoln Park Lagooners for
27    their hard work and we congratulate them on  the  celebration
28    of  the  26th  anniversary  of  their organization; and be it
29    further

30        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
31    presented to the Lincoln Park Lagooners.
