 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives wish
 3    to congratulate the Mokena Lions Club on the occasion of  its
 4    50th anniversary; and

 5        WHEREAS,  The  Mokena Lions Club was officially chartered
 6    on January 31, 1953; the club is known for  its  services  to
 7    the  blind and hearing-impaired; it has also aided education,
 8    recreational, and social activities; and

 9        WHEREAS, Members of the Lions Club provide eyeglasses and
10    hearing aids and deliver food baskets to needy  families  for
11    Easter,  Thanksgiving,  and  Christmas;  they  pass out flags
12    during the July Fourth parade, offer scholarships, and  serve
13    pancakes;  they've  helped  local  Scout  troops and sporting
14    teams and donated to  the  local  fire  department,  library,
15    schools, and parks; and

16        WHEREAS, Lions Club members are service-minded people who
17    are  committed  to  improving  the  civic,  social, and moral
18    welfare  of  their  community;  the  club  currently  has  90
19    members; and

20        WHEREAS, Lions Club International has 1.4 million members
21    in 44,500 clubs in 187 countries; their motto is "We serve.";
22    therefore, be it

23        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES   OF   THE
24    NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
25    we congratulate the Mokena Lions Club on the occasion of  its
26    50th  anniversary, and we commend the members of the club for
27    their commitment to serve the community; and be it further

28        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
29    presented  to the Mokena Lions Club as a token of our respect
30    and esteem.
