 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives wish
 3    to congratulate the Hancock County Health Department and Home
 4    Health Agency on the occasion  of  its  25th  anniversary  on
 5    Thursday, March 27, 2003; and

 6        WHEREAS,  In  1977,  a  tax  referendum was passed by the
 7    residents of Hancock County that enabled the  Hancock  County
 8    Health Department to be established; and

 9        WHEREAS,  In  February of 1978, the Hancock County Health
10    Department and Home Health Agency opened its  doors  for  the
11    first   time  in  the  Hancock  county  courthouse  with  two
12    employees; some of the services available at that  time  were
13    Home  Health, WIC, and immunizations; space was so tight that
14    the  women's  restroom  was   used   for   the   purpose   of
15    immunizations,  check-ups,  and just a few clothing items for
16    the needy; and

17        WHEREAS, In 1986 the organization moved to 73 South Adams
18    Street, a 2 story building across from  the  courthouse;  the
19    services  expanded  to include family case management, family
20    planning, a food pantry, larger clothing capabilities, and  a
21    medical equipment loan program; and

22        WHEREAS,  In  May  of  2002,  the  Hancock  County Health
23    Department and Home Health Agency moved to a new building  at
24    671 Wabash Avenue in Carthage; a wide variety of services are
25    offered by the 27 current employees, such as family planning,
26    environmental  health, health education, and various wellness
27    clinics; the building is  on  one  floor  and  is  completely
28    handicapped accessible; therefore, be it

29        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
30    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
31    we congratulate the Hancock County Health Department and Home

 1    Health Agency on the occasion of its 25th anniversary, and we
 2    commend  the agency for its work with the citizens of Hancock
 3    county; and be it further

 4        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 5    presented  to  the  Hancock County Health Department and Home
 6    Health Agency as a token of our respect and esteem.
