HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives wish to congratulate Ross McClane, the Mayor of the City of Newton, for his 25 years of outstanding public service; and

WHEREAS, He was born on February 28, 1913, and is 91 years old; and

WHEREAS, Mayor McClane began serving as an alderman on May 6, 1975 when he was 62 years old, and he served through April of 1981; he later was appointed alderman for a two-year term beginning May 7, 1985 to fill a vacancy, and continued serving as alderman until he was elected mayor; his term as mayor began in May of 2001; and

WHEREAS, Mayor McClane's accomplishments have earned him the respect and admiration of his friends and neighbors; the citizens of Newton are grateful for his service to the community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mayor Ross McClane for his many years of exceptional service to the City of Newton and we extend to him our best wishes for many more years of continued success and happiness; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mayor Ross McClane as an expression of our respect and esteem.
