HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Downers Grove North High School won the IHSA Class 8A Football Championship on Saturday, November 27, at Memorial Stadium in Champaign; and

WHEREAS, The Downers Grove North Trojans beat Maine South High School in the championship game by a score of 33 to 13; they rushed for 335 yards and had a 13-minute advantage in time of possession; both the offensive and defensive lines played a strong game; and

WHEREAS, The Trojans started the season with a record of 2 wins and 2 losses and went on to finish the season with no other losses; and

WHEREAS, During the game, Garrett Edwards had 19 carries for 91 yards and Justin Shelly had 13 carries for 123 yards; linebacker Ryan Rohmann made big plays, including a fourth-down stop that halted a Maine South scoring drive; and

WHEREAS, John Wander is the head coach of the Trojans; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the coaches, players, and students of Downers Grove North High School on winning the IHSA Class 8A Football Championship; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Downers Grove North High School as an expression of our esteem.
