| WHEREAS, The sports talk program Saturday Morning Sports |
| 3 |
| Line, hosted by Jim Turpin and Loren Tate, is in its 25th year |
| 4 |
| on radio station WDWS in Champaign; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Jim Turpin is a broadcasting legend who was the |
| 6 |
| Voice of the Illini for 35 years; he has been with WDWS since |
| 7 |
| 1980; he has brought many memorable University of Illinois |
| 8 |
| football and basketball moments to his listeners and has been |
| 9 |
| recognized as one of the nation's top collegiate sports |
| 10 |
| broadcasters; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Loren Tate, a journalist whose coverage of |
| 12 |
| Illinois athletics since the late 1950s is unparalleled, joined |
| 13 |
| the News-Gazette as sports editor in 1966; he was the sports |
| 14 |
| director at television station WICD for 11 years and the |
| 15 |
| longtime analyst for Illini broadcasts; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Jim Turpin and Loren Tate bring Saturday Morning |
| 17 |
| Sports Line listeners the latest sports news on the Illini; the |
| 18 |
| program has drawn listeners, phone calls, and e-mails from |
| 19 |
| virtually all over the world; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, In the ever-changing world of radio, the 25th |
| 21 |
| anniversary of a program is an outstanding achievement; |
| 22 |
| therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 25 |
| commemorate the 25th anniversary of Saturday Morning Sports |
| 26 |
| Line on radio station WDWS; and be it further

| RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be |
| 28 |
| presented to Jim Turpin and Loren Tate as an expression of our |
