HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Louis C. Cairo has been named Man of the Year by the Italian American Labor Council of Greater Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Louis was born on September 20, 1958 in Chicago; his parents are Louis F. Cairo, who immigrated from Calabria, Italy in 1948, and Rosemary Cairo, whose grandparents immigrated from Sicily in 1890; he credits much of his success to the strong work ethic, drive, and determination that he inherited from his parents; and

WHEREAS, Louis is married to Gloria, whom he met twenty-two years ago; they have three beautiful children, Deanna Marie, Louis Anthony, and Kristina Marie; and

WHEREAS, He attended Catholic schools from grade school through law school; his tenure at Goldberg, Weisman and Cairo, Ltd., the law firm that now bears his name, began two years before he graduated from Loyola University School of Law in Chicago in 1983, when he was hired as a clerk; his firm has grown to be one of the largest personal injury and workers' compensation firms in the country; the firm has generously contributed to charitable organizations and union affiliated functions with gifts, prizes, financial contributions, and a tireless support staff; and

WHEREAS, Louis has established many record settlements in Illinois on behalf of clients of his firm; over the last 5 years, the firm has amassed settlements and verdicts in excess of $250,000,000 on behalf of clients who have suffered catastrophic losses, death of a loved one, or less serious injuries; and

WHEREAS, Louis is a member of numerous legal associations that endeavor to improve the quality of our legal system, including the Justinian Society of Italian Lawyers, National Italian American Bar Association, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (Board of Managers), Society of Trial Lawyers, Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, and Trial Lawyers for Public Justice; he is the first attorney to be asked to sit on the prestigious Board of Directors of the Italian American Labor Council; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Louis C. Cairo on being named Man of the Year by the Italian American Labor Council of Greater Chicago; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Cairo as an expression of our respect and esteem.
