HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The American Cancer Society is the nationwide,
3 community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to
4 eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing
5 cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer,
6 through research, education, advocacy, and service; and
 
7     WHEREAS, The American Cancer Society consists of more than
8 two million Americans united to conquer cancer through balanced
9 programs of research, education, advocacy, and service; the
10 dollars raised from the American Cancer Society and Relay For
11 Life are used to provide hope for the future, progress toward a
12 cure, and answers to cancer questions and concerns; and
 
13     WHEREAS, The 2004 American Cancer Society's Relay for Life
14 in Clinton County is set for August 13th, 2004; all cancer
15 survivors are invited to celebrate life and the hope for a cure
16 by walking the first lap at the relay; therefore, be it
 
17     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
19 commend the Relay for Life and this unique community event that
20 allows individuals from all over to join in the fight against
21 cancer and celebrate life for survivors, mourn the loss of
22 loved ones, and rally for their community to fight cancer; and
23 be it further
 
24     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to the Relay for Life organizers Derrick Husmann,
26 Dana Timmermann, and Jeannie Pollmann as an expression of our
27 esteem.
