 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives were saddened to learn of the tragic death of
 4    Antonio "Tony" Marquez; and

 5        WHEREAS, Antonio Marquez was born on February 24, 1976 to
 6    Erasmo and Paula Marquez; and

 7        WHEREAS,  Antonio Marquez was always ready to lend a hand
 8    and never hesitated to stop what he was doing and  offer  his
 9    help  or  a kind word; he was murdered on the way home from a
10    Halloween party, when he stopped to offer a few dollars to  a
11    homeless  man  on  the  street  and was subsequently shot and
12    killed; and

13        WHEREAS, The act of cowardice  that  took  Mr.  Marquez's
14    life  has  resonated throughout the city and deprives Chicago
15    and the community in  which  he  lived  the  benefit  of  his
16    positive contribution to society as a whole; and

17        WHEREAS,  Antonio  Marquez's  tragic death has led to the
18    creation of a foundation named Save Another Life that aims to
19    prevent this type of senseless violence  from  claiming  more
20    innocent lives; and

21        WHEREAS,  Antonio  Marquez  leaves  behind a proud family
22    determined to carry on his legacy of good will;  his  passing
23    will  be deeply felt by his friends and family especially his
24    wife, Erika; his sons, Eron A. and Erasmo  A.;  his  parents,
25    Erasmo   and   Paula;  his  siblings,  John  Renteria,  Linda
26    (Fernando) Renteria, Jose (Janet)  Renteria,  Albert  (Lori),
27    Sara   Villareal,   Cynthia   (Ken)   Killingbeck,   Patricia
28    Villareal,  Angel  (Maria) Marquez, Christina Rodriguez, Raul
29    Rodriguez, Francis, Frankie, and Patricia; his  grandparents,
30    Nicolasa  Marquez,  Emilio, and Marcelina Perez; his in-laws,
31    Maria J. and Joaquin Perez; his nieces and nephews;  and  his

 1    many friends; therefore, be it

 2        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 3    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
 4    we  mourn  the death of Antonio "Tony" Marquez and extend our
 5    deepest condolences to his family  and  friends;  and  be  it
 6    further

 7        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 8    delivered to the family of Antonio "Tony"  Marquez  with  our
 9    deepest sympathy.
