 1        AN ACT in relation to employment.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section   5.  The  Prevailing  Wage  Act  is  amended  by
 5    changing Section 1 as follows:

 6        (820 ILCS 130/1) (from Ch. 48, par. 39s-1)
 7        Sec. 1.  State policy.  It is the policy of the State  of
 8    Illinois  that  a wage of no less than the general prevailing
 9    hourly rate as paid for work of a similar  character  in  the
10    locality in which the work is performed, shall be paid to all
11    laborers,  workers, and mechanics employed by or on behalf of
12    any and all public bodies engaged in public works.
