SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
70 ILCS 3205/17.5 new

    Amends the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority Act. Provides that any contract extended or renewed by the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority for services provided at a sports facility constructed or financed under the Act shall require the contractor to recognize an exclusive representative for purposes of collective bargaining when the representative demonstrates a showing of majority interest by employees in a unit of eligible employees performing labor for the contractor under the contract on the basis of dues deduction authorizations (except in the case of dues deduction authorizations that are fraudulent or obtained through coercion). Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Sports Facilities Authority Act is
5 amended by adding Section 17.5 as follows:
 
6     (70 ILCS 3205/17.5 new)
7     Sec. 17.5. Recognition of collective bargaining units. Any
8 contract extended or renewed by the Authority for services
9 provided at a sports facility constructed or financed under
10 this Act shall require the contractor to recognize an exclusive
11 representative for purposes of collective bargaining when the
12 representative demonstrates a showing of majority interest by
13 employees in a unit of eligible employees performing labor for
14 the contractor under the contract on the basis of dues
15 deduction authorizations (except in the case of dues deduction
16 authorizations that are fraudulent or obtained through
17 coercion).
 
18     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
19 becoming law.
